I've been fishing since I was six. I had a break from the age of 16-22 (I wonder why!!)
Then stopped serious match fishing for 10 years from 1995 when I got divorced.
As a junior I won all the honours with my club - Buckingham&Dist AA, and also represented them at three 1st Division Nationals.
When I restarted fishing in the early 70s, I concentrated on rivers and had successes on the Thames, Ouse and Thame. I also briefly fished for Oxford Isis before moving to South Wales.
I was honoured to be asked to join Cardiff Nomads after fishing a Tuesday evening open - I equalled Clive Roberts weight off the next peg (I was lucky!!).
On my first match as a Nomad, I won an open on the Monnow with 29lbs of chub. In 1986, I was part of a representative team from the South West/Wales region,
travelling to Holland to fish several matches where I enjoyed good results.
After representing the Nomads in various team competitions I moved to the Midlands where I was asked to join Shimano Portway and Daiwa Redditch.
I became a canal specialist and had a string of wins and places on the hard and highly competitive Midland circuit.
One of my proudest moments at that time was in December 1994 by setting a record in the 144 peg West Mids Winter league with almost 21lbs of small
skimmers and roach. This was after a biteless first two hours. The angling legend, Ken Giles said it was the best canal catch he'd ever seen.
In more recent years I have fished primarily as an individual and have been fortunate to win several matches on commercial venues. In 2011/12 I recorded 25 weights over 100lbs, topped with a best of 223lbs.
I have been fortunate in achieving my goals over the years, but still have an appetite for more success and would like to play a small part in Sensas Cardiff Nomads future success.
