I started my match fishing as a junior in the late months of 2010, fishing numerous Club matches for Spencer Works A.C on many commercial waters.
I progressed as an angler and did well in many club matches, and competed against all senior anglers much older than myself.
Throughout fishing matches I learnt a great deal by watching other people and observing what was being done by them.
After about a year or 2 and I was just getting into fishing Club matches and started to fish a few Open matches on a variety of venues, one of them being
Redhill Fishery. One match in particular at Redhills the open was being held on both Sophie’s and Molly’s Pond’. 5 hours later and 100lb of carp weighed in I then knew that Fishing was all I really wanted to do and so I was “hooked”.
Later on in the year of 2012 my brother (Daniel Driscoll) was picked to represent Wales Youth in the Celtic Cup and World Championships. I then set myself a target of making the team as wanted to step up another Level and .
So it was in 2013 that I went to the trials that were being held at Larford lakes, Weston Pools and Cefn mably. The trials went really well and I was delighted to be picked for the 2013 Celtic cup which was being held on Bron Effion Fishery in North Wales.
After a brilliant few days Wales got Top spot overall as a team with me having a section 1st and a section 2nd over the 2 days of the event.
It is now that I look back on my 2013 success and think over a few of the wins I have had this year including Individual 1st in the White acres
Junior Festival, Team Gold in the Junior National fishing with Matrix Tameside and then Team Gold with Wales in the Celtic Cup.
I hope that my success continues now I have got the opportunity to fish for Cardiff Nomads. There are matches coming up that I am involved in within fishing for Nomads and I Can’t wait!!
